WHAT IS A POLITICAL OBSERVER?
Political Observers OBSERVE everything that happens at the polling place from start to finish and take notes without interfering. We do this to educate ourselves about Election processes in our county and to improve Election Integrity at the polls.
Political Observer
Protocol and Guidelines

Arizona law allows for a political observer to be appointed by the County Chairman of each political party that has a candidate on the ballot, one per polling place. The Pinal County Elections Department has established these protocols for party observers. This is to ensure that any questions or issues that may occur on Election Day are able to be handled quickly and efficiently and that the voting process is disturbed as little as possible.
To become a Political Observer in Pinal County, you must be a registered Republican and reside in Pinal County. Political Observers can work at a polling site during early voting, on election day and even after election day observing at the Pinal County Elections Office. Just fill out the Political Observers Interest Form and click Send.
Once the form has been reviewed by the PCRC Chairman, you will be invited to a Political Observers Training Session. You can attend an in-person meeting or one of our online training sessions. Attending a Political Observers training session is MANDATORY for you to be appointed as a Political Observer. Once your training is completed, you will receive a Political Observer Appointment form which will certify you as a Political Observer. You must present your Political Observer Appointment form at your assigned polling site. You will be contacted to receive your assigned day(s) and time(s) for Poll Observing.
Poll Observing is one of the most important things we can do to help ensure that elections are being conducted correctly in each and every precinct.
